Desde hace unas horas, HBO ha desaparecido en los hogares de los Estados Unidos cuando se accede a HBO Max, desde hoy Max a secas. La plataforma de streaming apuesta por un cambio de nombre pero además de un rebranding, hay mucho más.
Y es que la plataformas propiedad de Warner Bros. Discovery ha dado al otro lado del océano el primer paso antes de llegar a otros mercados, entre ellos España tras la fusión de Warner y Discovery. Tres tipos de suscripción y subida de precios para seguir como hasta ahora. Y comienzan las quinielas para ver qué cambios llegan a España.

Ya hemos visto cúal es su aspecto, con un cambios mínimos en lo que respecta al diseño de la plataforma. En el interior, en lo referente al contenido, Max aglutina lo que antes encontrábamos en HBO Max y Discovery+. Pero es que casi todo lo importante llega en lo relativo a los precios.
Max estrena tres planes en la suscripción frente al plan único actual. Son los planes «Max ‘Ad-lite», «Ad-free» y «Ultimate Ad-free», los cuales se pueden contratar por 9,99 dólares, 15,99 dólares y 19,99 dólares mensuales respectivamente.

De entrada vemos como para poder seguir disfrutando del contenido en 4K habrá que pasar por caja y suscribirse al plan más caro, el «Ultimate Ad-free». De llegar estos planes a España, pasaremos de pagar 8,99 euros al mes que pagamos ahora, a pagar 18,99 dólares.
Por esos 18,99 dólares ofrecen además de 4K, contenido con calidad Dolby Vision en imagen y audio Dolby Atmos. Junto a estas ventajas, este plan incluirá un catálogo con 1.000 películas y episodios de series y ofrecerá la posibilidad de reproducir en 4 dispositivos a la vez y hasta 100 descargas para ver sin conexión.
Bajando un peldaño, pero aún más caro de lo que pagamos en España, el plan «Ad-free» ofrece resolución 1080p, audio 5.1, dos reproducciones a la vez y hasta 30 descargas para ver sin conexión. Precio más alto y recorte de prestaciones si lo comparamos con lo que pagamos ahora en España por HBO Max.
El plan más parecido al actual, al que ahora usamos en España, tiene un precio de 9,99 dólares pero ojo, restringe la calidad de imagen a 1080p, el audio de nuevo a 5.1, dos dispositivos para ver a la vez y a la vez que se pierden las descargas, se suma la llegada de publicidad. Además, sólo el plan top tendrá acceso a contenido exclusivo como por ejemplo la saga Harry Potter.
Queda por ver si Max a secas mejora el catálogo de contenido que se puede ver en 4K HDR, uno de los puntos más criticados de la plataforma que ofrece muy pocas películas y series con esta resolución. O si por fin lanza su aplicación para los Fire TV y así ahorrarnos tener que dar tantos rodeos para instalarla. Y deberá hacerlo para justificar esa subida de precios.
Por ahora la plataforma ha adelantado algunas de las películas y series que llegarán para aprovechar la máxima calidad de imagen. Es el caso de «Game of Thrones» , «The Last of Us» , «Harry Potter» , la trilogía «El Señor de los Anillos» , la trilogía «El Caballero Oscuro», la saga de películas «Matrix» o de «Avatar: The Way of Water», que llegará en 4K UHD, HDR 10, Dolby Vision y Dolby Atmos en el plan Ultimate Ad-Free a partir del 7 de junio.
Además adelantan que todas las películas de Warner Bros. lanzadas este año y en el futuro estarán disponibles en 4K UHD cuando lleguen a Max después de sus ventanas de cine. La lista completa de contenido 4K disponible en el plan Ultimate Ad-Free de Max en el momento del lanzamiento en los siguientes dispositivos compatibles seleccionados, eso sí, sujeta a cambios la tienes al final del artículo.

Además hay que recordar que en España muchos aún tenemos la suscripción a mitad de precio aprovechando la oferta de un 50% de por vida, que visto lo visto, mucho tememos que será hasta que la empresa quiera. Y tememos que con el cambio de nombre pase a ser historia eso de pagar 4,49 euros al mes en vez de 8,99 euros.
Dicho todo esto, Max no llegará a España y otros mercados hasta 2024, por lo que todavía tendremos que esperar tiempo para ver si estos cambios en territorio USA se transmiten a otros mercados, con una conversión 1:1 en precios y con los cambios en los planes de precios.
